Jaishankar, American counterpart Rubio discussed the Pahalgam terror attack

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with American counterpart Marco Rubio on Wednesday and discussed the terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir recently.

Jaishankar said that the criminals, backers and planners of the attack should be brought to justice.

Jaishankar posted on X, “Yesterday discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack with us.

During the talks, Rubio confirmed the United States commitment to cooperate with India against terrorism. US state spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement that Rubio encouraged India to “de-Suscule Tension” and maintain peace and security in Pahalgam, expressing his grief for lost life in “terrible terrorist attacks”.

Negotiations between the two leaders come when a cruel attack in Pahgam on 22 April along with the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir increased the violation of ceasefire by Pakistan, where terrorists killed 26 people and injured several others. The Indian Army has effectively responded to the Pakistan Army’s unsafe small arms in LoC.

After the attack, India has taken several measures against Pakistan for its support to cross terrorism, including the involvement of the Indus Water Treaty in the Attari and closing the integrated check post in the attic. India has also decided to curb the strength of high commissions.

Earlier, on 29 April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a meeting of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan and three service heads. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was also present in the meeting.

After the terrorist attack in Pahgam, a meeting was held a few days after the Cabinet Committee meeting on security on 23 April. Government sources said that PM Modi confirmed that India has a national resolution to give a crushed shock to terrorism.

Sources said that PM Modi expressed full confidence and confidence in the professional capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces. He said that PM Modi said that the Indian Armed Forces have complete operational independence to take the mode, target and time decision of India’s response.

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday was attended by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy chief Admiral Dinesh Ki Tripathi and air chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh. (AI)
