New Delhi, November 10 (IANS) The two doctors from Kashmir who were arrested in Faridabad (Haryana) and Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) were part of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwatul Hind (AGH). AGH is an affiliate of Al-Qaeda and these arrests show that the terrorist group is now working closely with Jaish-e-Mohammed in India.
AGH, which was active in Jammu and Kashmir for some years, was completely destroyed. However, these arrests reveal that AGH is working closely with Jaish-e-Mohammed with the aim of reviving itself.
Groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed suffered serious losses during Operation Sindoor. Since then all these groups are trying to make a comeback. Several infiltration attempts were made, but all of them were foiled by security agencies.
Al-Qaeda had launched AGH for special operations in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the organization had hardly any success and in 2019, police announced that the group had been completely eliminated. However, now he is trying to make a comeback and focus on Jammu and Kashmir. For this he has activated his operatives in India.
The ISI hopes that activating the modules within India and then using them in Jammu and Kashmir will lead to a resurgence of terrorist activities in the valley. The scale of the revival was huge, and the busting of this module in UP and Haryana can be considered a major counter-terrorism success. Police seized 3,000 kg of explosives, chemicals, reagents, inflammable materials, electronic circuits and timers along with guns, weapons and ammunition. Before busting this module, the police had kept a close watch on its activities.
Officials say it is clear that Jaish-e-Mohammed and AGH were working together with a larger intention to carry out terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
After Operation Sindoor, ISI wants the terrorist groups to form a united front. In Bangladesh, the ISI had instructed the terrorist groups to work as a unit so that there is no rift and forming a united front meant having a strong force.
After Operation Sindoor, ISI has taken the Resistance Front out of the picture. He tried to re-establish Hizbul Mujahideen, but did not succeed in doing so. AGH, which was launched for India-specific operations, has many locals as part of it. This serves the ISI’s objectives of launching a completely homegrown terrorist group in Jammu and Kashmir.
AGH, with its local activists, fits into the plan for ISI. While the plan was to establish a local group in Jammu and Kashmir, these modules also planned to carry out attacks in several parts of North India. If one looks at the way this module operates, it is clear that it had a good amount of funding.
Furthermore, the operators also acted in a professional manner and communicated only through encrypted channels. He was in touch with his masters in Pakistan, from whom he was getting instructions. Funds were also raised through donations to avoid suspicion and identification by the agencies.
The investigation into this module is ongoing and police say that its operators have the support of people in many parts of Kashmir. Raids were also conducted in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian of Kashmir.
Intelligence Bureau officials say that it is becoming difficult for terrorists to infiltrate, hence ISI is exploiting every resource available within India. The bigger intention is to send all these people to Jammu and Kashmir so that they can carry out major terrorist attacks.
The quantity seized is a clear indicator that the ISI intends to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir on a large scale, an official said.
