Jagan condemns ‘repression’ against the privatization of medical colleges

Amravati, 19 September (IANS) YSR Congress Party President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly condemned what he called the coalition government to the cruel repression of peaceful protests organized in Andhra Pradesh against the privatization of the government’s medical colleges.

Jagan Mohan Reddy made Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s allegations, arrests, house details, and police excesses on students, youth and YSRCP cadres’ and questioned the intention of police excesses and YSRCP cadres, who were giving voice to the concerns of the people under the leadership of the party’s youth and student wings. He wanted to know whether democracy is still present in the state when constitutionally the right to dissatisfaction is being guaranteed.

“Why the government is so intolerant to the people who raise their voice in protecting public health and medical education? Selling the medical colleges built by the government is nothing less than betrayal for property-related property and personal interests.

He also stated that YSRCP MLCs, who staged a protests outside the assembly against privatization, were subject to high-speed police. At the same time, YSRCP MLAs, youth and student leaders successfully organized a peaceful movement inside both in the Legislative Council and Medical College premises despite repression.

He said, “Our fight is for the health protection of the rights of the poor and students. Our struggle will only intensify until the government withdraws its decision to privatize medical colleges,” he announced.

YS Jagan appreciated all those who participated in protests, confirming the party’s unwavering stand to protect public health and educational opportunities for margins.

Earlier, YSRCP claimed that the state-wide ‘Shailo Medical Colleges’ program was a grand success.

Former minister Vidyadala Rajni said, despite all the police sanctions, people responded in large numbers and gathered in 17 medical colleges, five completely functional and in different stages of completion of the rest.

He visited all the places where medical colleges were started by the previous government under the leadership of YS Jagan so that people could be told loudly and clearly about the move to privatize the coalition government.

He said that Chandrababu could not bring a single medical college in all his conditions, while YS Jagan started 17 government medical colleges in his five -year tenure.

People gathered in large numbers to protest and demanded a rollback of privatization move.

He said that the police imposed heavy sanctions and kept the leaders under the arrest of the house, and in Palnadu, their high was opened.
