Amaravati, November 13 (IANS) YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has once again criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been accused of “credit theft”.
The former chief minister said the coalition government was “shamelessly claiming credit” for the housing works initiated, sanctioned and executed on a large scale under the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule.
In a post on ‘X’, Jagan said, “In the last 18 months, Chandrababu’s government did not acquire a single square yard and not a single cent of house space for the poor.”
He claimed that the Naidu government did not sanction even a single house and did not spend a single penny on such housing.
The YSRCP leader called it a “shameful” attempt by CM Naidu to “convert the labor of others into his own glory”.
He remarked that a person who steals credit for the hard work of others is not a leader but a mere playwright.
“Of the 3,00,092 houses that CM Naidu claims to own, not a single house-lessee (site title) was issued by the present government,” YS Jagan said.
He clarified that 1,40,010 houses were in the finishing stage under the YSRCP rule. While 87,380 houses were extended to slab level, 66,845 houses were under construction during the YSRCP tenure.
He reminded that on October 12, 2023, the YSRCP government had created history by organizing 743,396 house-warming ceremonies in a single day.
Emphasizing the scale of YSRCP welfare, Jagan said the YSRCP government issued 31.19 lakh house site leases to poor women on 71,800 acres, sanctioned 21.75 lakh houses and, despite the disruption due to the COVID pandemic, completed more than 9 lakh houses.
The former Chief Minister said, instead of building on this legacy, the present government has launched a program to close the remaining vacant plots meant for housing the poor and is using the yellow media to steal credit for the achievements of the YSRCP.
He described this conduct as extremely shameful and said that trying to take over the land of the poor and hiding behind propaganda is political theft.
YS Jagan said, “Claiming other people’s ideas and hard work, trying to grab housing sites allotted to the poor and shamelessly propagating those lies is the essence of Chandrababu’s credit-thief strategy.”
