Jacqueline Fernandez transferred SC to quash the money laundering case

New Delhi, September 21 (IANS) Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez contacted the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order, which dismissed her petition to reduce the money laundering proceedings launched by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

According to the Caselist uploaded on the Apex Court website, the case has been listed on 22 September for a pre -hearing before a bench of Justice Dipankar Dutt and Augustine George Maasih.

The case arises from the allegations that Fernandez gets expensive gifts and financial benefits from the alleged Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, which is accused of cheating many high-profile persons.

The ED has claimed that the property price is Rs. 7.2 million “crime income” associated with Fernandez was attached to him during the investigation.

In his petition before the Delhi High Court, Fernandez argued that he was falsely implicated and could not be prosecuted under Section 3 and 4 of the Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) prevention. He said that he had no role in robbing Chandrashekhar’s alleged illegal money.

However, the single-judge bench of Delhi High Court Justice Anish Dayal refused to intervene in the trial proceedings, assuming that the allegations required the examination before the trial court. The verdict inspired Fernandez to move the Supreme Court.

The ED has filed several charge sheets in the case. In its complementary charge sheet, it nominated Fernandez as an accused, while another Bollywood personality, Nora Fatehi, was investigated as a witness.

The federal anti-mani laundering agency has alleged that Pinki Irani, an associate from Chandrashekhar, provided the delivery of luxury gifts to Fernandez on his behalf. The actress, who is from Sri Lanka, has been a major face in Hindi cinema for more than a decade, including music videos and reality shows. A graduate in large -scale communication from the University of Sydney, she was crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka in 2006 and represented her country at the Miss Universe pageant in the same year.
