J & K likely to rain, ice for 3 days; Meteorological Issue Advisor

Srinagar, 3 October (IANS) Meteorological (MET) Department has released an adverse weather advisory forecast for rains in grounds and snow in the high reach of Jammu and Kashmir and in areas starting on Saturday.

The advisor released on Friday said that a strong Western disturbance is coming in J&K and nearby areas, whose effects are likely to occur in the plains from 4 to 7 October in the plains and high reach from October 4 to 7, with the summit activity during the night of 5 October till the morning of October 7.

“Under the influence of this western disturbances, medium to heavy snowfall is likely to be in Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Zojila Pass, Pir’s Gali, Razdan Pass, Sinthon Pass, Sinthon Pass and Kupwara-Shadana Pass. Middle snowfall is likely to receive too much rainfall. The middle snowfall is likely to receive too much rainfall. With strong winds with hour speed.

Adverse weather is likely that there is a possibility of disintegration of surface transport on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Srinagar-Leh highway and all other roads between mid and higher access.

The advisor said, “The possibilities of landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at weak places. Farmers are advised to suspend all farming activities from 5th to 7 October. The water level will increase in rivers, streams, Nallah and low-fold areas.”

J&K has faced unprecedented floods in August-September, causing heavy destruction, especially in Jammu Division. Heavy damage to private and public infrastructure, roads, buildings and other facilities was caused by those floods.

Samba, Jammu, Katua, and Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and Anantnag suffered heavy damage due to washing a piece of land to the agricultural land.
