Italy captain Juan Ignacio Brax ready for ‘fight’
Italy captain Juan Ignacio Braques hopes his side can learn from their two encounters with the Springboks in South Africa earlier this year as they face the reigning world champions again.
Breaux said before the game, “The feeling is obviously positive. We’re coming off a game that made us proud.” “It gave us a lot of confidence, but we also know that the game is over. Now we are facing the best in the world and are preparing for the real battle, not only physically but also mentally.”
“We faced them twice this summer. In the first match, they focused mainly on physicality, while in the second they focused more on open play and caused us more problems than in the first match. So, they are really a complete team, and you never know what to expect. They can challenge us in one-on-one contact, but they can also decide to spread the game and seek us out wide. The important thing for us will be that we maintain possession. Maintain and do what we know how to do when we have the ball.”

Team News – South Africa
There has been even more change in the Springboks team after a tough game against France a week ago. Siya Kolisi continues as captain, but the rest of the starting line-up has been refreshed, with opportunities for youngsters such as Zachary Porthen and Ethan Hooker, who impressed on the wing during the Rugby Championship and wore number 12.
The bench, as usual, is funky, given Marco van Staden’s ability to cover from the number 8 and there is no specialist hooker involved. Andre Esterhuizen and Quagga Smith provide versatility among the replacements.
South Africa XV: 1 Boan Venter, 2 Johan Grobbelaar, 3 Zachary Porthen; 4 Jean Klein, 5 Franco Mostert; 6 Siya Kolisi (captain), 7 Ben-Jason Dixon, 8 Marco van Staden; 9 Morne van den Bergh, 10 Hander Pollard; 11 Kurt-Lee Arendse, 12 Ethan Hooker, 13 Canon Moody, 14 Edwill van der Merwe; 15 Damien Willemse.
Replacement: 16 Gerhard Steenkamp, 17 Wilco Louw, 18 RG Snyman, 19 Ruan Nortje, 20 Andre Esterhuizen, 21 Quagga Smith; 22 Grant Williams, 23 Manny Liboc.

Italy wants to build on Australia’s success
Italy also came away with a win, having shown again how dangerous they are by defeating Australia in Udine. Of course, the Wallabies had beaten South Africa in Johannesburg earlier this year – and Italy’s 26-19 victory over Joe Schmidt’s side should arguably have been by a bigger margin, with Australia scoring one in a highly controversial match.
