It was filed against the principal of Kolkata College, who challenged CM Mamta’s sister -in -law at Calcutta HC.

Kolkata, September 19 (IANS) In an unprecedented development, an FIR has been registered against the principal of a reputed Girls College in Kolkata, who had earlier challenged a decision of West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee’s sister -in -law, Kajori Banerjee, Kajori Banerjee, who was as the chairman of the college’s working committee.

Although the FIR was lodged at Shakespeare Sarani police station on 12 September, but it came to light on Thursday that the complaint came just a day after a single-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court headed by Justice Bas Pattanak, on an interim migration for the liquor Bhatta, on an interim migration, the suspension order for Sambant Bhatti was kept for breathing. Kejori Banerjee, chairman of the working committee of the same college.

At the same time, Justice Pattanayak questioned the appointment of Kajori Banerjee as the chairman of the functioning committee of the same college. Justice Pattanayak questioned how, despite not being an educationist, Kajori Banerjee, also a councilor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), can be selected in the Working Committee of such graduate institute, and that too as President.

Justice Patanak noticed that, according to the law, the chairman of the management committee of a college should be a “person who is associated with education”. However, in this case, the President was just a councilor and there was no evidence that she was associated with education. “Therefore, it needs to see if his appointment was legal or not,” said the judge.

A day after those observations from the Calcutta High Court, information came out that a Hindi teacher in the same college, Mantu Das, who came from a socially backward class background, had filed an FIR against the college principal, accused of humiliating them based on the background of his caste.

In his FIR, Das claimed that although he was associated as a college Hindi teacher since 2014, he was insulted by Sribanti Bhattacharya since he joined college in 2022 as a principal.

The principal denied the allegations and said that he would not speak further about the issue as this latest development was reportedly related to the college related case which is pending in the Calcutta High Court.

However, political and educational circles have started questioning the time of the FIR registered against the principal. According to him, when Das himself claimed that he was humiliated by the principal since 2022, why did he wait for three long years to register an FIR in the case, and that too when a significant hearing on the case related to the college in the Calcutta High Court was going on?
