Dadar, Bandra, Lalbagh, Powai, Byculla, Kurla and many other areas received moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. Humidity has increased in Mumbai and surrounding areas since morning. Although the sudden rain brought some relief, it also caused inconvenience to Diwali shoppers and shopkeepers.

Civic officials said several areas in Navi Mumbai witnessed heavy rain along with lightning and strong winds. Areas including Nerul, Belapur, Vashi, Seawoods, Sanpada and Ghansoli received heavy rains, partially flooding many roads and slowing down traffic during peak hours.
Although no major accident or injury was reported till late evening, the municipal corporation’s disaster management teams have been put on high alert. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a short-term forecast that predicts light to moderate rain over Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas in the coming hours.
