WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus posted on X (formerly Twitter) that an Israeli airstrike on Al-Aqsa Hospital in Gaza killed 4 people and injured 17 others .
The strike was witnessed by the hospital’s World Health Organization team, which is tasked with assessing needs and collecting incubators for northern Gaza, he wrote, adding: “WHO staff are in place.”

Tedros reiterated his call to protect patients, health professionals and aid workers during conflicts and to stop attacks on hospitals.
He wrote: “A WHO team is carrying out a humanitarian mission at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Gaza. A tent camp within the hospital grounds was hit by an Israeli air strike today.”
“We reiterate our call to protect patients, medical staff and humanitarian missions,” he added.
“The ongoing attacks and militarization of hospitals must stop. International humanitarian law must be respected.”
Tedros urged all parties to the conflict to abide by UN Security Council resolutions calling for a ceasefire.
