Isle of White Crash Latest: Three people killed in crash during flying lesson

Officials said a helicopter crashed during a flight lesson on the Isle of White, away from the south coast of England on Monday, killing three people and one person was seriously injured, said by officials.

Robinson R44 II helicopter had a pilot and three passengers when it crashed before 9.30 am. The operator, Northumbria helicopters stated that its aircraft was involved in an accident during a flight lesson.

Confirming the killing of three people, the Isle of White Police said: “At this time we are unable to provide more information about those involved, as the efforts continue to contact and support their families.”

A helicopter crashed on Monday at a ground on the Isle of White. Officials said three people died and one person was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

He said, “It is a very sad and sad news that what should have been a happy bank holiday helicopter flight from Sandown Airport. The whole community is shocked,” he said.

He warned people to stay away from the region as the officials investigate the incident.

A manager of a holiday park near the accident scene told BBC In view of the helicopter crash, the authorities “closed all the roads”.

The manager of Appuldurcombe Gardens Holiday Park at Floor Sanders, Vencol, Ventner described the day as “chaotic”.

He told the BBC that this is the park’s busy summer season height, and “guests who cannot reach … a long twist, tourists and motors are trying to come home”.

Air Accidents Investigation Branch is now looking into a helicopter crash on the Oil of White.

The agency said, “A team of inspectors has been sent to the accident site to collect evidence and inquire.”

A spokesman for the Northumbria helicopters confirmed that his aircraft G-OCLV, listed as Robinson R44 II helicopter, was involved in Monday’s accident on the Isle of White.

The spokesperson said, “The flight, which left the Sandown airport at around 9 pm, was taking four passengers including the pilot on the board, and taking a flight lesson.”

Witness Leh Goldsmith told Isle of White County Press She was going towards Shanklin when she saw the helicopter “spilling”, before he got out of the sight and came down in a hedge.

Three people were killed in the accident, while one fourth was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The helicopter crashed on the Isle of White left the Sandown airport around 9 am.

Police received a call about a helicopter at 9.24 am later, at 9.24 am.
