Ishaan Kishan has been in news for the last two months. The star player of the Indian cricket team took a break from cricket and returned home from India’s tour of South Africa. Since then Ishaan Kishan is missing from action. During this, Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid said that Ishan Kishan will have to play some kind of game to return to the Indian team. Meanwhile, the BCCI has also made it mandatory for centrally contracted players to play red-ball cricket in the domestic circuit.

Despite this, Ishan Kishan missed his last Ranji Trophy match for his state Jharkhand this season. Now in a video going viral, Ishan Kishan can be seen training with Hardik Pandya. The authenticity of the video cannot be confirmed by NDTV.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah on Wednesday made it clear that all centrally contracted cricketers will have to compulsorily play red-ball cricket in the domestic circuit and the management will not tolerate any excuse in this matter. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the naming ceremony of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Shah said that all players will have to represent their state teams when called by the coach or captain. This statement comes amid the ongoing controversy regarding Ishan Kishan and reports that BCCI has asked him to play for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy.

Shah mentioned Kishan during the conversation but immediately said that the announcement was not targeted at him and that the rule would apply to all cricketers who are not part of the national team.

“All the contracted players have been told over the phone and I will also write to them. If the chairman of selectors, the coach and the captain want you to play red-ball cricket then you will have to play. ‘Nakhre nahi chalenge’ (no tantrums). And as far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, he is young, I am not saying this about him specifically because it will apply equally to all players,” Jay Shah told reporters.

“Everyone has to play, otherwise the chairman of the selection committee has given me his suggestions and I am going to give them a free hand to take their decision independently,” he said.
