Is this the reason for the stampede of the BJP in Jharkhand, with many leaders defecting from the party and familism taking over?

Web Desk, 22/10/202422/10/2024

Kedar Hazra, Lewis Marandi

The dates for the Jharkhand assembly elections have been announced. Since the announcement of the election date, all parties have been busy preparing and publishing candidate lists. The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a list of 66 candidates for Jharkhand.

The BJP has named many sitting MLAs as candidates in the list announced. Meanwhile, some such faces have also been included in the list of candidates related to family members or relatives of some senior leaders. If we look at the list of the BJP, which openly promotes nepotism, we will find the names of 8 to 10 candidates, all of whom belong to the family of one or the other leader of the BJP.

Is familism dominant?

Purnima Das, the daughter-in-law of former state chief minister and current Odisha Governor Raghuvar Das, has been named as the party candidate for Jamshedpur East district. While former CM Champai Soren was given a ticket for Seraikela. Champai Soren’s son Babulal Soren got the ticket from Ghatshila. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is trying to corner the BJP on the issue of nepotism after the release of the party list.

In the BJP candidate list, Meera Munda, the wife of former Jharkhand chief minister and former Union minister Arjun Munda, has been fielded as candidate for the Potka assembly seat, while former Jharkhand chief minister Geeta Koda, wife of minister Madhu Koda, was the candidate from Potka assembly seat. Jagannathpur assembly seat The party has inducted Roshan Lal Choudhary, brother of Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary, into the BJP and appointed He is the candidate from Barkagaon, while Shatrughan Mahato, brother of Dhanbad MP Dhullu Mahato, is contesting from Bagmara Selection.

JMM blames BJP

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha also claimed that half of the leaders in the BJP list are from other parties and have joined the BJP, which has fielded them as candidates. That said, the JMM claims that the BJP does not trust its own leaders.

After the list was announced, a stampede broke out within the party

A number of leaders have left the party since its candidate list was announced. Lewis Marandi, considered a strong leader of the BJP and a former minister in Raghuvar Das’ government, has quit the party and became the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) Party Member. She was angry that Sunil Soren was the candidate instead of Lewis Marandi from Dumka seat. However, the party wanted Lewis Marandi to contest for the Barhet parliamentary seat in Dumka’s place but she was not ready so she left the party and became the MLA of Jharkhand Member of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

The next person to leave the BJP and join the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was Jamuya’s sitting MLA Kedar Hazra. Even before the BJP announced its list, he had left the BJP and joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, while Dr Manju was Kedar from Jamuna. Candidate of Kedar Hazra.

Many leaders quit the party

The next name in the list of leaders who left the BJP and joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is former Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi. Kunal Sarangi also became a member of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Kunal Sarangi was a member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha before joining the BJP. The next name on the list is Ganesh Mahali, the former BJP candidate from Seraikhela. Angered by former chief minister Champai Soren’s emergence as candidate from Selekela, Ganesh Mahali left the BJP to join the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha). At the same time, former BJP MP Laxman Tudu and BJP leader Basco Besra have also quit the party and joined the Jharkhand Mukti Mohamad Cha (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha).
