The Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Sayid Irawani on Sunday accused Israel of vandalizing diplomatic efforts and warned that the Iranian army would determine the “time, nature and scale” of its reaction to recent attacks by the United States and Israel.
His remarks came on Sunday (local time) during an emergency special session of the Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, called the agenda item “threat to international peace and security”.
Irawani said, “Even though Iran reserves its complete and legitimate rights under international law to defend itself against this clear American aggression and its Israeli proxy, time, nature and the scale of the proportional reaction of Iran.
He condemned the attacks of the United States and Israel on 21 June and 13 June respectively as a violation of international law, claiming that he originated from “illegal and politically inspired works” by the United States, UK, France and his European colleagues.
The ambassador also criticized Israel for reducing the diplomatic route.
“Israel decided to destroy diplomacy,” and said “the so -called proposal of diplomacy was nothing more than a fraudulent policy to confuse the international community,” he said.
Keeping in mind the attitude of Iran’s Foreign Minister, he highlighted the irony of Western calls for Iran that Tehran never left the table and blamed the US, Britain, France and Israel for the loss of civilian death and infrastructure in Iran.
“They are a direct result of illegal and politically inspired actions of the United States and its European partners … The United States, UK, and France, with three permanent members of this council, with Israeli rule … will bear full responsibility for the death of innocent citizens in Iran, especially for the destruction of women and children, and important citizens infrastructure.”
“The week where our Foreign Minister interacted with the E3, European and European Union, the United States decided to destroy diplomacy. What can be concluded from this situation? … From the perspective of Western countries, Iran should return to the table of talks, but as mentioned by the Foreign Minister of Iran, Iran never left anything?” He said.
Irawani urged the Security Council to act decisively, warning, “If it is designed to maintain the council and the United Nations, international peace and security, then it fails to work in this decisive moment, they will always lose their credibility and relevance.”
The comment occurred amid growing struggle in the region after the US -led Operation Midnight Hammer, which targeted three major nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. (AI)
