Young fast bowler Harshit Rana was in fine form as he kept his cool and saved 13 runs to seal victory for Kolkata Knight Riders in the final over against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024 on Saturday. Rana was responsible for bowling a devastating spell with Heinrich Klaasen in the final over of the game, but the start was far from ideal. Klassen lifted Rana up and hit a huge rear leg six and it looked like it was all over. However, the pacers conceded a run and then the wicket of Shahbaz Ahmed attempted to end the game with a big six but was eventually dismissed by Shreyas Iyer ) long distance grab.

Marco Jansen was the new batter and he did the smart thing and hit a single to put the in-form Klaasen back on base. The next pass was a deft chip from Rana and Klaasen could only manage to miss his shot completely.

Suyash Sharma, at No. 3, struggled to get the catch as he ran a long way and ended up having to make a full-stretch dive.

The equation was clear – 5 runs were needed to win from the last ball when SRH captain Pat Cummins batted. Rana’s approach was once again clever as he again played a slower delivery outside off-stump and Cummins was unable to make any contact as KKR sealed the victory.

Andre Russel’s all-round performance helped Kolkata Knight Riders register a four-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Saturday.

Russell scored a brutal unbeaten 64 off 25 balls with three fours and seven sixes, while Phil Salt’s more pragmatic 54 off 40 balls led KKR Scored 208 runs off 7 balls.

Left-arm pacer T Natarajan was their most successful bowler, taking three wickets (3/32). At several moments, SRH threatened to chase down 208, especially when Heinrich Klaasen (63, 29b, 8×6) went berserk towards the end of the innings.

But Hyderabad came very close to the target.
