According to CNN-News18 report, investigating officer Sandeep Lather took his own life using his service revolver. Lather also wrote a suicide note and left a video message, in which he made serious allegations against the staff officer of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Puran Kumar.
According to News 18, in the purported video, Lather described the ADGP staff officer as “absolutely corrupt” and accused him of appointing and transferring officers on the basis of caste.
He further alleged widespread corruption within the police force and claimed that “everyone was involved.” Authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident.
The alleged suicide letter came into the hands of CNN-News18.
Late ADGP has been accused of corruption in Lather’s note.
Lather reportedly accused ADGP Puran Kumar of corruption. Kumar had allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at his Chandigarh residence on October 7.

Lather claimed that Kumar took his life out of fear that his alleged corrupt activities would soon be exposed.
“I am sacrificing my life for this truth. I am proud that I stand with integrity. It is important to wake up the country,” Lather wrote in his note, CNN-News18 reported. He said that his family had fought for India’s independence.
The crisis has deepened within Haryana Police
The latest development has increased the turmoil within the Haryana Police, which is under intense scrutiny after the death of 52-year-old Kumar, a 2001 batch IPS officer.
Following the case, Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujit Kapoor was sent on leave.
Kumar’s eight-page suicide note had named Kapoor and seven other senior IPS officers, including former Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarnia, alleging harassment, discrimination and damage to his professional reputation.
The note also mentioned case-based bias and professional alienation affecting the internal functioning of Haryana Police as the investigation into both the deaths continues.
