Srinagar, Aug 08: Anti -terrorism operations in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir entered their 8th day on Friday, making it one of the longest anti -terrorism functions in the Center area in decades.
The army said on Friday that the anti -terrorism campaign in Akhhal Devsar forest area of Kulgam has entered its 8th consecutive day, marking it as one of the longest anti -terrorism operations in decades.
“UAVs, attack helicopters and high -tech devices are being used as terrorists continue to hide deeply inside the forest hideout. To avoid collateral damage, elite para forces, national rifle units, police and CRPF are doing a coordinated operation.
The army said, “So far, a terrorist has been killed, while about half a dozen army personnel have maintained bullets and splunters injuries”, the army said.
DGP, Nalin Prabhat visited the encounter area on Thursday and reviewed the operation to take out the hiding terrorists.
Security forces have conducted aggressive operations against militants in Hinterland, while the army has been on the maximum warning of the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The abolition of three hardcore Pakistani militants responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, in which 26 people were killed, is part of the aggressive operation being carried out by the joint forces.
Three staunch Pakistani militants, including Late Commander, Suleman Shah and his two colleagues Abu Hamza and Gibran Bhai, were killed on July 28 on the foot of Dachigam National Park on the leg of Mahadev Parvat Shikhar in Harvan area of Sarinagar.
The army named this anti -terrorism action as ‘Operation Mahadev’.
After the initiative terrorist attack, security forces are running an anti -terrorism campaign against militants, their grassroots activists and sympathizers.
