Peruvian President Dina Boluarte said on Saturday she would not resign after her home was raided as part of an investigation into possible illegal enrichment and undeclared ownership of luxury watches.
About 20 prosecutor’s office officials and 20 police officers raided Boluate’s residence on Friday night and the palace on Saturday morning.
“I came into office with a clean slate, so I will retire from the presidency in 2026,” she told a news conference, calling the raids a “disproportionate” measure and an “abuse of power.”
Boluate’s house is located in the Surquillo district of Lima, a few kilometers from the palace where she works.

Prosecutors opened a preliminary investigation two weeks ago after the Internet show “La-Encerrona” reported that the president owned several Rolex watches.
The investigation seeks to determine whether there are grounds for a formal investigation of the president.
Boluate, who has been in office since December 2022, admitted that she owns Rolex watches, which she said she bought with money she earned when she was young.
The prosecutor’s office tried unsuccessfully to check Boluate’s watch at her office last Wednesday, but her lawyer said there was a conflict with the diary appointment and tried to reschedule the appointment.
The investigation into Boluate is the latest in a long line of investigations into Peru’s president and senior officials.
