New Delhi:

The Delhi High Court has asked the city government and police to inform it about an “action plan” to deal with frequent incidents of bomb threats to schools in the national capital.

The court also issued notice to the authorities on an application filed by the petitioner, advocate Arpit Bhargava, who claimed that three of the five incidents of bomb threats in schools last year have not yet been investigated and they have been taken to a logical conclusion. Has not been delivered.

In a recent order, Justice Subramaniam Prasad asked the Delhi government and Delhi Police to file their response to the plea, and said, “the plan of action to be taken by the respondents should be indicated in the counter affidavit”.

The petitioner is the father of a child studying in DPS, Mathura Road, who had received such threatening calls last year.

The petitioner’s latest application states, “Even this Hon’ble Court was targeted in a similar manner when a bomb threat email on 15.02.24 disturbed everyone and all the courts across Delhi. A strict security exercise had to be initiated.” ,

“Such incidents have become a daily routine, causing huge headache not only to the petitioner but to all the stakeholders. The safety of children is of utmost importance and there seems to be no solution to it, especially when no response has been given.” Filed by respondent No. 1 (Delhi Government) till date,” the application said.

The petitioner was represented by advocate Binashaw N Soni.

In the main petition, Mr Bhargava has said that he is aggrieved by the lax attitude of the Delhi government and the police in dealing with the persistent bomb threat emails being sent to schools here and the resulting failure of the authorities to ensure the safety of children, teachers, staff . and other stakeholders.

The petition states that the authorities have failed to prevent recurrence of such threats, which has caused extreme trauma, stress, harassment, inconvenience and fear to everyone including the petitioner.

In a status report filed in response to the petition, Delhi Police had earlier said that they have “bomb disposal squads” and “bomb disposal squads” that deal with such threats and incidents in terms of standard operating procedure.

The next hearing of the case will be in April.
