Indore Central Jail prisoner commits suicide

An inmate of the Central Jail in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself using a bedsheet, an official said on Tuesday. He told that the incident happened on Monday evening.

Speaking to PTI, Jail Superintendent Alka Sonkar said, “The deceased Anil Manjhe (32), who was lodged in barrack number 2 of the jail, used a bedsheet to commit suicide. He tied one end of the bedsheet to the toilet ventilator and hanged himself with the other end.”

When jail guards saw him hanging, they took him to MY Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, the official said. He said the incident is being investigated and his family members have been informed about it.

Manjhe was accused of killing his wife over a minor dispute. Sonkar said, he was an undertrial in this case. MG Road police station in-charge Vijay Singh Sisodia said that a case of suicide has been registered and further investigation is being done.
