Himanshu Shekhar, chief public relations officer of Northern Railway, said the blankets (Lenin) used in Rajdhani trains are cleaned every 15 days. Blanket given by Indian Railways before 2010. He used to shower once every three months. However, the gap narrowed from 2014 to 2024. For some time Lenin took a bath once a month. But now quality linens are washed every 15 days.

Cleaning with UV light

Public relations officials said Northern Railway is cleaning via ultraviolet light. Sheets and pillowcases provided on the train. Need to be cleaned after one use. Indian Railways supplies over 6 lakh blankets to passengers across India every day. Northern Railway distributes 100,000 blankets and sheets to passengers every day. He also clarified that blankets will now be cleaned after every round through UV robotic technology.

Dibrugarh and Jammu Rajdhani train pilot project

Himanshu Shekhar talks about how these blankets are cleaned with UV light in a pilot project. The capital city of Ranchi is serving up quality Lenin. Now Lenin cleanses once a month. Customs clearance can now be completed within 15 days. In addition to this, blankets can be cleaned using naphthalene balls and air vaporization. Currently, under a pilot project, trains on the Lenin are being cleaned through UV rays in Dibrugarh and Jammu Rajdhani.
