An Indian-American student who went missing in the United States earlier this week has been found, police said today.
Ishika Thakore, 17, has been missing since Monday in Frisco.
Frisco police posted on X late last night asking for the public’s help in tracking down Ishika Thakore. “The Frisco Police Department is seeking assistance in locating 17-year-old Ishika Thakore, who was last seen at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8, in the 11900 block of Brownwood Dr., Frisco. She is Approximately 5 feet 4 inches, 175 pounds, last seen wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt and red/green pajama pants,” the post read.
Responding to the same post today, police said the teenager had been found. The post further read: “The 17-year-old teen who was the subject of a critical missing person alert we issued earlier today has been found. We would like to thank everyone for their help and support.”

Several Indians and Indian-origin students have died in the United States this year.
A 25-year-old student from Hyderabad, who moved to the United States in 2023 to pursue a master’s degree at Cleveland State University, was found dead earlier this week. The incident marks another in a series of deaths involving Indian-American students in the United States.
Mohammed Abdul Arafat has been missing for nearly three weeks and the consulate earlier said it was in contact with Abdul’s family.
Since the beginning of 2024, there have been at least 11 deaths involving Indian or Indian-origin students in the United States.
The United States is the preferred destination for Indian students seeking higher education. According to the United States, more than 260,000 Indian students will immigrate to the country during 2022-2023. This is a 35% increase from the previous trading day.
