Amidst the increased tension after the deadly terrorist attack in Pahgam, the Indian Army has responded to unprotected small weapons from across the Line of Control (LOC) during the night of May 2 and 3, the official said on Saturday.
The Pakistan Army resorted to firing small arms across the LoC in the areas front of Kupwara, Uri and Akhnoor areas of the Union region of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, the Indian Army immediately and proportionally responded.
Earlier, Pakistan’s army fired small arms firing on 1 and 2 May in Nowshera and Akhnoor areas along with Kupwara, Baramullah and Poonch districts, which is effectively vengeance by the Indian Army, as well as in Nowshera and Akhanur regions.
According to the Indian Army, the soldiers responded in a calibrated and proportional manner to firing unprotected small arms by the Pakistan Army.
It is the ninth consecutive day of India’s effective vengeance since the firing of unprotected small arms firing of Pakistan Army on the night of 25–26 April.
Earlier, the Indian Army effectively responded to the small weapons of Pakistan in the URI and Akhanur regions in the region along with LoC in Kupwara district.
On Wednesday, India shut down its airspace for all aircraft registered in Pakistan and all aircraft run by Pakistani Airlines, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA), 26 people were killed in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April.
India issued a notice to the Airmen (NOTAM), confirming the closure of its airspace, from 30 April to 23 May (approximate period), all Pakistani-managed, operated, or leased aircraft.
On Tuesday, the Director General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan spoke on the hotline to discuss the unsafe ceasefire violation by Pakistan, according to defense sources.
Sources said that India warned Pakistan against the violation of the unsafe ceasefire by the Pakistan Army along with the Pakistan Army and the International Border. (AI)
