Indian-American girl and mother killed in car crash in US

A six-year-old Indian-American girl and her mother were killed after their car collided with another vehicle in Oregon, US. According to Oregon State Police, the vehicle ran a stop sign, causing the collision.

According to The Oregonian, Oregon State Police said the accident occurred in Clackamas County on March 30, injuring two other passengers.

The girl’s mother has been identified as Kakkera Geetanjali, 32, and the injured were her husband Nareshbabu Kamathman (36) and their son.

Geetanjali and Nareshbabu are software engineers from Konakanchi village in Andhra Pradesh.

The Oregonian reported, citing state police, that the car “ran through a stop sign on South Meridian Road” and “crashed into the path of another vehicle traveling on Oregon Highway 211.” ACCIDENT.

Oregon State Police also said traffic was slow on Oregon Highway 211 for about five hours at the time of the incident.

Geetanjali’s daughter died on the spot, while Geetanjali was taken to hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries.

The incident occurred when the family was heading to the temple to celebrate Geetanjali’s birthday.

Arrangements are currently being made to transport the remains of the victims back to their hometowns for final rites.
