Kurukshetra, November 25 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India wants peace but will never allow its borders or national security to be compromised.
The Prime Minister also praised the recently launched Operation Sindoor and said the strikes were carried out in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people lost their lives.
Addressing a state-level function to mark the 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Prime Minister said, “We want peace, but we do not compromise on the security of our borders.”
PM Modi said that the whole world has seen that the new India neither fears, nor stops, nor bows down in front of terrorism.
He said that today’s India is moving forward with full strength, courage and clarity.
Recalling recent developments, the Prime Minister said when the three original versions of Guru Granth Sahib arrived from Afghanistan, it became a “proud moment for every Indian”.
He said his government has continuously worked to strengthen spiritual and cultural ties with the Sikh heritage.
The Prime Minister recalled that when the ninth Sikh Guru began his journey from Anandpur Sahib, he connected many villages with the Sangat, expanding their devotion and faith and also changing the conduct of the society.
He remarked that the people of these villages had given up all forms of drug cultivation and surrendered their future at the feet of Guru Sahib.
PM Modi emphasized that if society, family and youth together fight decisively against drug addiction by following the path shown by Guru Maharaj, then this problem can be eradicated from its roots.
The Prime Minister remarked that the teachings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib should become the foundation of peace in our conduct, balance in our policies and trust in our society and this is the essence of the occasion.
He highlighted that the way the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur is being celebrated across the country shows how much the teachings of the Gurus are still alive in the consciousness of the society.
The Prime Minister concluded by emphasizing that in this spirit, these celebrations should serve as meaningful inspiration for the youth to take India forward and once again wished everyone the best.
