India will host the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February next year, with the six-day event scheduled from February 15 to 20. Addressing a press conference, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) S. Krishnan said the summit will help shape the future of inclusive, responsible and resilient Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Heads of state from more than 15 countries are expected to attend the summit, with French President Emmanuel Macron also likely to be present. The leaders of Brazil, Estonia and Greece are also expected to attend, while Britain’s Deputy Prime Minister is likely to attend.
The United States, Switzerland, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates are looking to host the next edition of the AI summit, and invitations have also been sent to China.
Krishnan said the summit will focus on democratizing AI and bridging the AI divide, amid concerns that AI capabilities may remain concentrated in a few countries and companies. The discussions will also include the issue of empowering AI, with all sources of energy expected to be discussed.

A research symposium on AI and its impact will be held as part of the summit, bringing together researchers and practitioners to present ideas, exchange methods and evidence, and build collaborations. He said that more than 300 pre-summit events have already been organized in more than 100 cities in India and globally.
MeitY secretary said participation of more than 100 countries is expected, invitations have been sent to 140 countries. With over 1,50,000 participants, over 100 CXOs from leading AI companies are expected to participate.

Shantanu Narayan and Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce.
