New Delhi:
India has released a strong diplomatic reprimand in Bangladesh after the kidnapping and murder of Bhabhi Chandra Roy, a prominent Hindu minority leader in North Bangladesh. In a rapid word statement, New Delhi condemned the incident and accused the Bangladeshi Interim government led by Muhammad Yunus of failing to protect their minority communities.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “We have paid attention to the kidnapping and brutal murder of Hindu minority leader Shri Bhabeesh Chandra Roy in Bangladesh.” “The murder follows a pattern of systematic harassment of Hindu minorities under the interim government, even criminals of previous such events roam with impure.”
The statement continued: “We condemn the incident and once again remind the interim government to meet their responsibility of protecting all minorities, including Hindus, including inventing or without distinction.”
58 -year -old Mr. Roy was abducted from his home in Basudebpur village in Dinajpur district – about 330 km north of Dhaka was found in and later dead. According to local media reports citing police and family members, Mr. Roy received a phone call around 4:30 pm on Wednesday, it is believed that he would be attacked later.
According to The Daily Star report, about thirty minutes after the call, four persons reached Mr. Roy’s house on two motorcycles. He allegedly kidnapped him and took him to Narbari village, where he was assaulted. Family members told the Daily Star that Mr. Roy had returned to his home in an unconscious state. He was taken to a hospital in Dinajpur, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Congress vs BJP on minority rights
Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent meeting with Muhammad Yunus as “ineffective” in getting security for minorities.
“In Bangladesh, religious minorities, especially our Hindu brothers and sisters, are facing constant atrocities,” Mr. Kharge said in a statement. “The brutal murder of a prominent Hindu community leader, Mr. Bhabesh Chandra Roy, is evidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cordial meeting with the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh has failed.”
In Bangladesh, religious minorities, especially our Hindu siblings are being tortured.
The brutal murder of Shri Bhabesh Chandra Roy, a major leader of the Hindu community, is proof that @narendramodi G’s meeting with the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh was a failure.

Citing Indian parliamentary data further, Mr. Kharge further said that there were 76 attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh in the last two months, resulting in 23 deaths. He also alleged that similar attacks were going on on other religious minorities.
Reacting to Mr. Kharge’s comments, the BJP questioned why the Congress is silent on the alleged attacks on Hindus in West Bengal, saying that foreign policy cannot be decided by the blunt, but through diplomacy.
BJP spokesperson Charu Pragya told NDTV, “The first thing to the Congress is that it is absolutely absurd to target PM Modi for his cordial relations with a global person like Muhammad Yunus.” “These connections serve India’s interests in business and regional security. You cannot define foreign policy on Graj. India is related to Bangladesh country. Governance can change. It is a little childhood to the Congress to make such irresponsible statements.”
“I should ask Mr. Kharge a question, why are you always silent on the plight of Hindus in your country?” He said.
US Travel Advisor for Bangladesh
Along with continuing sporadic incidents of violence violence since the exit of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last year, the United States released its citizens to a travel advisor, which was urging them to rethink the plan to visit Bangladesh.
“The region has been abducted, inspired by domestic or family disputes, and who target members of religious minorities. The separatist organizations and political violence also create additional threats for visitors for the region, and are examples of IED explosions and active shoots,” reads.
“If you are planning to travel to these areas, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Home Affairs requires prior approval from the Ministry of Public Safety. Due to risks, US government employees working in Bangladesh are banned from traveling to the region,” he said.
