India poll fever sweeps US, Indian-Americans hold car rallies in 20 cities

Not just Indian citizens, the election fever has also gripped people of Indian origin abroad. Rallies are taking place in the United States.

Overseas supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized car rallies in 20 different cities in the United States to express support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term and urge the people of India to give up more than 400 seats to the BJP led by the National Party. Democratic Alliance (NDA) forms alliance in Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha election in India will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, electing 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. Results will be announced on June 4.

According to news agency PTI, Overseas Friends of the Bharatiya Janata Party-USA (OFBJP-USA) president Adapa Prasad said: “The Indian-American community is very keen and active in wanting to see the people of India led by Modi The party and the National League for Democracy won 400 seats.”

At rallies, cars were decorated with banners, flags and slogans promoting messages such as “Modi assures India’s third largest economy”, “Ab ki baar 400 paar” and “Modi 3.0”.

“The community actively participated in the car rallies from coast to coast and north to south organized by OFBJP in about 20 cities in a coordinated manner,” said OFBJP-USA national secretary Vasudev Patel. Indian-American diaspora, PTI reported.

Impressive turnout across America

Large turnouts at rallies from Washington, D.C., to Silicon Valley, including a vibrant caravan in the San Francisco Bay Area with more than 200 vehicles and 300 participants, showed strong support for Modi’s government and his re-election campaign.

In Atlanta, Georgia, about 150 vehicles attended a rally, showing widespread support for Modi’s leadership.

Similar rallies were held in cities including Austin, Dallas, Chicago, Raleigh and Detroit, with cars decorated with BJP and U.S. flags and slogans such as “Modica assures India’s third largest economy,” “Ab ki baar 400 paar”, and “Modi 3.0”.

Participants praised the Modi government’s achievements in India’s economic growth and global peace, and looked forward to Modi’s re-election in 2024.

Members of the Sikh community also rallied in support of Modi’s re-election, emphasizing his importance to India and global stability.

The rally, held in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., first visited gurdwaras before heading to the rally venue, where cars were decorated with BJP and American flags and carried placards that read “Sikhs Americans support Modi 3.0”, “Ab ki bar 400” paarr”, “Modi guarantees India’s third largest economy”.
