Patna, Nov 19 (IANS) After RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that anyone who is ‘proud of India’ is a Hindu, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Wednesday backed the comment, saying India is indeed a Hindu nation in its cultural essence.
Bhagwat, during an interaction in Guwahati, had said that the term “Hindu” is not merely religious, but represents a civilizational identity rooted in thousands of years of cultural continuity.
“India and Hindu are synonymous. India does not need an official declaration to be a ‘Hindu nation’. Its civilizational ethos already reflects this,” said the RSS chief, whose organization is the BJP’s ideological parent.
Speaking to IANS, Shahnawaz Hussain said, “Yes, it is true, India is indeed a Hindu nation. We are proud to live in a Hindu nation. Many people say so, but the country is run according to the Constitution, and everyone has equal rights. Hindus are the majority, and the whole world talks about how people from different communities live together in India.”
Speaking ahead of the Bihar Chief Minister swearing-in ceremony, the BJP national spokesperson said, “Today there was a meeting of BJP MLAs, after that there was a meeting of JDU and then there was an NDA meeting. The people of Bihar have voted for this government. I had already said that we will win up to 200 seats. People are happy, and the swearing-in ceremony will take place tomorrow. Tejashwi Yadav has got two more seats than expected.”
Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected leader of the Janata Dal (United) legislature party. With this decision, it has been decided that he will take oath as Chief Minister on November 20 at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
It will be a historic moment as Nitish Kumar begins his tenth term as Chief Minister, a testament to his long-standing influence in the political landscape of Bihar. Over the years, he has been at the center of coalition politics and is considered one of the most experienced administrators of the state.
All JDU MLAs attended Wednesday’s meeting, sending a strong message of unity and trust in the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Senior party leaders stressed that Bihar needs stable and decisive governance, which Nitish Kumar is best placed to provide.
Nitish Kumar has also hinted at unveiling a new development roadmap with new schemes and policies in the coming months, taking advantage of the new political configuration of the state.
