India is capable of going to the root of terrorism and uprooting it, in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, reiterating the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-Left, which is a commitment to completely eradicate the danger in all its forms and expressions.
The Defense Minister said that the government has adopted a new strategy to strengthen national security and at the same time, to effectively deal with terrorism. Rajnath Singh reiterated that Operation Sindoor has only been stopped, and has not been abolished, and if Pakistan tries to do any nefarious work again, India is fully ready for even more intense and decisive action. “Pakistan and whoever tries to take a bad eye, must remember that the Indian armed forces have the strength and ability to deal with every situation,” he said.
On the comments made by some quarters, which India should have rectified the PoK during Operation Sindoor, the Union Minister said that “the day is not far when PoK people would again become part of India”.
Rajnath Singh called for a permanent solution for terrorism, which declares the danger as an epidemic, which is lucky to destroy, but cannot be left to die his death as its existence challenges collective peace, development and prosperity. He emphasized that no religious, ideological or political reason can justify terrorism as nothing can be achieved through bloodshed and violence.
The Union Minister said that India and Pakistan gained independence at the same time, but today India is recognized internationally as the “mother of democracy” and Pakistan as “father of global terrorism”. He said that Pakistan has always harassed terrorists, and Pahalgam is just one example of a long list of crimes committed by Pakistan -backed terrorists.
“Pakistan always tries to justify terrorism. Therefore, it is important that in the fight against terrorism, we eliminate not only the terrorists but also the entire terrorist infrastructure. That is why our Prime Minister has said that the operation sindoor is still going on,” Rajnath Singh said.
The Union Defense Minister asked the international community to stop foreign funds, describing Pakistan as a nursery of terrorism, which should not be nourished. He said that Pakistan’s financing means to fund the infrastructure of terrorism.
On the appointment of Pakistan as the Vice President of the Counter-Terrorism Panel by the United Nations Security Council, Singh said that the panel was formed after the 9/11 attacks and was well known that Pakistan had sheltered the mastermind of the attack. He said that this decision was similar to “making milk guarding the cat”.
Rajnath Singh said that terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar were declared freely in Pakistan and senior officials of the Pakistan Army are seen attending the funeral of terrorists. He said that it is a joke of a global fight against terrorism that Pakistan is expected to lead the global community against terrorism.
The Defense Minister said that the rulers/leaders of Pakistan have kept their citizens, who themselves want the end of terrorism on the path of destruction. He reiterated that Pakistan should seek India’s help if it is unable to take effective action against terrorism. “The Indian Armed Forces are able to take effective action against terrorism on both sides of the border. Pakistan watched it during Operation Sindhor, but it is stubborn. Therefore, all kinds of strategic, diplomatic and economic pressure for the world are required to end terrorism on Pakistan.”
The Union Minister yesterday congratulated the Indian Army and other security forces for neutralizing three TRF terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. “TRF militants brutally killed 26 innocent people in Pahgam on 22 April 2025. In the investigation conducted after the attack, our security agencies found several important clues, on the basis of which a counter-terrorist operation conducted by terrorists was started. Calculating the remarkable changes being brought in the defense sector in the last 11 years under the leadership of PM Modi, the Defense Minister said that the Defense Budget, which was Rs 2,53,346 crore in the financial year (financial year) 2013-14, has increased to Rs 6,21,941 crore in FY 2024-25. He said that defense exports have increased by about 35 times as compared to 2014.
“In FY 2013-14, defense exports were only Rs 686 crore, which has increased to Rs 23,622 crore in FY 2024-25. Made in India Defense Products is being exported to about 100 countries. The export target has reached Rs 30,000 crore this year and to reach Rs 50,000 crore by 2029.
Singh said that the government has allowed emergency purchase to strengthen the armed forces to deal with any unexpected situation. (AI)
