New Delhi:
India said on Thursday it continued to encourage a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict through “dialogue and diplomacy”.
Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made the remarks at a press conference in response to a question about India’s stance at the first peace summit in Switzerland.
“We continue to encourage peaceful resolution of the Russian and Ukrainian conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.
On March 20, Indian Prime Minister Modi held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky respectively, and said that dialogue and diplomacy are the way to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Prime Minister Modi spoke to Mr Putin on the phone to congratulate him on winning a fifth term in the recent elections, and later called Mr Zelensky to convey India’s “continuous support” for all peace efforts to achieve peace and stability in India. End ongoing conflicts as early as possible.
In a phone conversation, the Ukrainian president thanked India for its support for his country’s sovereignty and said it was important for Kyiv to see New Delhi’s presence at the first peace summit in Switzerland.
