Patna, October 6 (IANS) Election Commission of India (ECI), Leader of Opposition and RJD leader Tejashvi Yadav on Monday after the announcement of the election dates of Behar said that if this opportunity is given, it will complete in 20 months what the NDA government cannot achieve in 20 years.
Speaking to IANS, Tejashvi Yadav said, “The dates have been announced, and the people of Bihar have been given another opportunity after 20 years. This time, people will not remember it. The public wants to change.
He said, “This government has destroyed the education system. There are no appropriate facilities for farmers or in the healthcare sector. What is present is only corruption, crime and dictatorship. Criminals, corrupt, and people involved in paper leaks have been given protection. Bihar has all been given freedom. Bihar wants to change, and will not be in the gold papers in history on 14 November.”
“Bihar wants a Chief Minister who does not request with a folded hands, but roars for the development and rights of the people. The state needs a leader with vision – someone who says only a person who says Tijshvi Yadav. What can the NDA not do in 20 years, if I give a chance, I will not do for the government. Samajwadi Party leader St. Hasan said, “The elections were to be held, and the opposition wanted them to be run in a single phase. This is a major examination for ECI. If the elections are not free and fair, it raises serious questions about the situation of democracy. I hope that the ECI will conduct elections as per constitutional criteria.”
Samajwadi Party leader Ravidas Mehrotra said, “Election dates have been announced. Voting will be held in two phases, and India will form a government in Block Bihar.”
Congress leader Ravinder Sharma said, “Preparations for Bihar elections have been completed. We have expressed concern about ensuring a fair election, and both Congress and India are ready.”
Congress state president Ajay Rai said, “Bihar is a land of change, and this change is going to happen. This is the place where Mahatma Gandhi started his opposition. The wave of change will start from Bihar and will spread all over the country.”
Meanwhile, Bihar assembly elections will be held in two phases on 6 and 11 November, which will have results declared on 14 November.
Addressing the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanash Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, described the Bihar elections as “mother of all elections”.
“We want to assure the voters of Bihar that the elections will not only be exemplary and smooth, but will also be the most peaceful due to special attention to maintaining law and order,” he said.
The 2025 Assembly Elections are the first to be held in the eastern state after the purification of the electoral rolls under a special intensive amendment (SIR), with 7.43 crore voters, including 14 lakh voters, for the first time.
CEC Gyanash Kumar also shared the details and the Sir’s timeline held after the interval of 22 years, saying that the final election role has been given to all political parties.

The Bihar assembly election dates were announced just a day after the delegation of the poll panel to review the election preparations in the state, meeting with representatives of all major political parties and assessing the logical arrangements.
The current 243-member Bihar assembly term ends on November 22, which means that elections should be held before that date. 2020 Bihar assembly elections were held in three phases.
