Projects covering 18 districts in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh will expand the Indian Railway Network for about 894 km as the Ministry of Railways.
Approved projects include:
- Wardha -bhusawal (3rd and 4th lines, 314 km) in maharashtra
- Gondia -Dongargarh (4th Line, 84 km) in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh
- Vadodara -Ratlam (3rd and 4th Lines, 259 km) in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh
- Itarsi -bhopal -bina (4th line, 237 km) in Madhya Pradesh
These projects will increase connectivity to about 3,633 villages with a joint population of about 85.84 lakhs, including two aspirations district-Vidisha and Rajnandgaon.
The objective of the multitaking initiative is to improve line capacity, mobility, and operational efficiency, reducing the crowd. It has been formed with the Prime Minister’s vision to promote regional self -reliance and development through better infrastructure and employment opportunities.
The PM-singing power developed under the National Master Plan, projects focus on multimodal connectivity and improvement in logistics efficiency through integrated scheme.
Railway section Sanchi, Satpura Tiger Reserve, Bhimbetka Rock Shelter, Hazara Falls and Navegon National Park will also add major destinations, which increase tourism capacity.
These routes are important for the transport of coal, containers, cement, fly ash, food grains and steel. The expansion of the capacity is expected to handle freight traffic of about 78 million tonnes per year.
Projects will contribute to environmental targets by reducing logistics costs, cutting oil imports about 28 million liters, and reducing carbon emissions by about 139 million kg – to plant six crore trees.
