India has announced the establishment of the ‘Coalition for Global Wellbeing – Gender Equality and Equity’ on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum 2024 in Davos.

The idea of ​​this alliance emerged from the G20 Leaders’ Declaration and India’s enduring commitment to women-led development enunciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As a follow-up to the activities of the Engagement Group and initiatives under the G20 framework, inter alia, Business 20, Women 20 and G20 Empower, this Coalition aims to take forward the commitments of G20 leaders for the broader benefit of the G20. global community.

The ‘Coalition for Global Wellbeing – Gender Equality and Equity’ is set to make a deep impact by strategically aligning with a set of key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative is an important step towards achieving multiple SDGs, which include SDG 3 – Good health and well-being, 4 – Quality education, 5 – Gender equality and empowerment, 17 – Global partnership for development and many more, which address gender Underlines India’s commitment to equality and equity as a critical component of global development.
