Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday welcomed the success of Operation Sindoor, in his address to the nation on the 79th Independence Day and saluted the role of the armed forces targeting terrorist sites in Pakistan. The operation he said was an expression of India’s displeasure in the attack of Pahalgam terrorists, “the husband was killed in front of his wives and after asking his religion, his father was killed in front of his children.”
PM Modi said, “I am very proud that from the ramparts of the Red Fort, I am getting the opportunity to salute the heroes of Operation Sindoor. Our brave Jawans punished the enemy beyond his imagination,” PM Modi said.
“On April 22, terrorists across the border came to Pahalgam and killed people after asking their religion … The whole India was angry, and the whole world was shocked by such a massacre. Operation Sindoor is an expression of that resentment,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that after the Pahalgam attack, the government had given an independent hand to the armed forces to respond to the attack.
“After 22nd, we gave our armed forces an independent hand. They set strategy, goals and time. Our forces had never done many decades. We entered hundreds of kilometers into the enemy’s soil.
He warned that India would not distinguish between terrorists and those who support them, emphasizing that the armed forces would respond to any misconception from Pakistan.
He said that India will no longer tolerate nuclear blackmail.
“If the enemy dare to commit any more misunderstandings, the Indian armed forces will give them an answer. We have now set a new normal. Terrorists and those who give them shelter will not be seen separately. They are a similar threat to humanity without any difference,” he said.
PM Modi said that the Indus Water Treaty was an injustice for the people of India and “one -sided”.
India and its farmers have the only authority over the water part of the Indus River in the country, the Prime Minister said.
“The rivers of India were irrigating the enemy country, while our farmers were deprived of water. Now, India’s water is only for India and its farmers. An agreement on the interests and national interests of the farmers is not acceptable for us. India has decided that blood and water will not flow together. Our country is affecting the pain of terrorism for many decades.” (AI)
