Hyderabad, Oct 20 (IANS) In a shocking incident on a festival day in Telangana’s Nalgonda district, a woman killed her two children and later committed suicide. The officers provided this information.
The incident took place in Kondamallepalli in the early hours of Monday. According to the police, Kanchala Nagalakshmi (27) strangled her daughter Avantika (9) and son Bawan Sai (7) to death. Later he died by hanging.
Police reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Police suspect that the accident occurred due to a family dispute.
The family hailed from Bapatla district in neighboring Andhra Pradesh and had shifted to Nalgonda district a few years ago for livelihood. Nagalakshmi’s husband was working as a construction worker, while she too was working as a daily wage labourer.
Preliminary police investigation revealed that the woman murdered her children and later committed suicide after leaving the house following an argument with her husband.
Police registered a case and started investigation and informed Nagalakshmi’s relatives in Bapatla district.
This is the latest in a series of such incidents in Telangana in recent months. Last week, a 27-year-old woman killed her twin children before ending her life at their residence in Balanagar, Hyderabad.
Challari Sailalakshmi strangled her two-year-old twins, Chetan Karthikeya and Lasyatha Valli, before jumping from the fourth floor of her apartment.
According to the police, the incident occurred due to frequent fights between Sreelakshmi and her husband Anil Kumar over children’s health problems. Chetan had difficulty speaking and the family was taking him for regular speech therapy sessions.
In August, a woman pushed her two sons into a water sump before attempting to end her life. Both the children drowned, while the woman was saved by a passerby. The elder child was three years old while the younger one was only eight months old.
According to the police, the incident occurred due to frequent disputes between the woman and her husband over family planning issues and financial stress.
In April, a woman murdered her two sons with an ax and then jumped to her death from the fifth floor of her apartment building in Gajularamaram. The woman was sad because she had been suffering from an eye disease for a long time and this hereditary disease had also passed on to her two children. There were frequent fights between the woman and her husband.
