Ottawa – Canadian Safety Intelligence Service says that this immigration safety screening is working with a increasing number of requests – and immigration lawyers say their customers are competing with long delays as a result.
In its new annual report, the Intelligence Agency says it received more than 538,000 screening requests from immigration and boundary officials in 2024, a significant increase on approximately 300,000 screening requests to receive annual annuals before 2023.
The report stated that while waiting for the security screening, the “required time will take” to “the intelligence agency will take” high amounts of application. ,
Increase in screening requests is being operated in part by a spike in the number of shelter seekers coming to Canada, all of which should be screening.
Immigration lawyers in BC and Ontario say that their customers are facing extended delays due to security screening and no one is explaining why.
Jordan’s refugee Ali Abuhanoud, who is applying for Canadian citizenship, says that he has been waiting for his safety screening results since May 2024, despite the screening was already done twice.
