“Volcanic ash is moving towards the eastern and north-eastern states of India, after which they will continue moving towards China,” Mohapatra said.
At present, the ash is over eastern and central India. He further said, the ash will move towards Delhi, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Bihar and northeastern states and then towards China.
“The ashes will leave India by 7:30-8 pm today,” Mohapatra said. He said the ash is not expected to have any impact on the weather and air quality of the country’s cities.
The official commented, however, that the plume will continue to impact aviation services.
