The deep depression formed over southeast Bay of Bengal during the day has moved west-northwestwards and is about 790 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 900 km south-southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha), the IMD said in its latest bulletin issued at 9 pm.
The Odisha government has evacuated people from sensitive places and deployed 128 disaster response teams in eight districts as the IMD has predicted the formation of a cyclonic storm by the morning of October 27 as the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is strengthening.
In its latest bulletin issued at 9 pm, the IMD said that the deep depression formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal early in the day has moved west-northwestwards and lies about 790 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 900 km south-southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha).
IMD said that it is likely to turn into a severe cyclonic storm by October 28.
“It is very likely to cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada as a severe cyclonic storm during the evening or night of October 28,” the IMD said.
