Kolkata, Nov 4 (IANS) Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly and senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday claimed that illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators have started fleeing the state in groups after the Election Commission announced the Special Intensive Review (SIR).
Addressing a BJP rally at Sodepur in North 24 Parganas district, the LOP officer said, “SIR is for illegal infiltrators what carbolic acid is for snakes. As soon as the Commission announced the application of SIR, these illegal infiltrators have started fleeing West Bengal, like snakes flee when carbolic acid is applied.”
The rally was organized to protest against alleged attempts by Trinamool Congress to spread misconceptions about the SIR.
Speaking on the occasion, the LoP official said that due to the pampering of illegal infiltrators over the years, the demography in about 6,000 villages of West Bengal has completely changed.
He said, “The Hindu population in these 6,000 villages has almost reduced to zero. There is not a single Hindu temple in these 6,000 villages.”
Ridiculing the Trinamool Congress rally in Kolkata to protest against SIR in the state, the LOP officer said many such illegal infiltrators were attending the ruling party (Trinamool Congress) rally on Tuesday.
He said, “Like ‘Love Jihad’, these illegal infiltrators are resorting to ‘Vote Jihad’. Trinamool Congress is another version of Muslim League. Trinamool Congress is an ancestral party which is fulfilling the unfulfilled dreams of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the LOP officer had lodged a complaint with the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, alleging that the Trinamool Congress, with the help of a private agency, was preparing fake birth certificates for illegal voters to submit with the enumeration forms for the SIR exercise.
After filing the complaint in the CEO office, he said that most of the fake birth certificates are being made in the name of dead voters and such cases are highest in three districts: North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Cooch Behar.
The CEO office assured the LOP that all the documents submitted along with the enumeration form will be meticulously scrutinized.
