Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) chief Farooq Abdullah on Saturday refused to give importance to the statements made by former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, saying that the country could not move forward if Bhutto’s comment was noted.
Abdullah told reporters here, “If we go by Bilawal Bhutto’s statements, we cannot move forward. I have been saying for a long time that the Indus Water Treaty should be reviewed again. Our rivers and we are the ones who are deprived,” Abdullah said to reporters here.
Increased stress and safety concerns over the deadly Pahgam terror attack, who killed 26 people and injured many, have called for diplomatic reactions from both sides.
Former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto accepted his country’s Tango with terrorist operators, saying that Pakistan’s past was the past.
It follows Defense Minister Khwaja Asif, which accepts Pakistan’s participation in support and funding of terrorist groups.
Bhutto accepted the history of Pakistan with extremism, claiming that the nation has faced it as a result and has since improved.
In a conversation with Yalada Hakim of Sky News on Thursday, Bhutto said, “As far as the Defense Minister said, I don’t think it is a secret that Pakistan has a past … As a result, we have suffered, Pakistan has been suffering. We have gone through the wave after a wave of extremism.
Bhutto said, “As far as Pakistan’s history is concerned, this is history, and it is nothing we are participating in today. It is true that it is an unfortunate part of our history,” Bhutto further said.
Bhutto, the President of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), was in fire for a controversial “either water or blood flow”, threatening India on suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, which allocates the Western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab) to Pakistan and Eastern Rivers (Ravi, Bei, Beast, Satilaj).
