Jaipur, November 24 (IANS) Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena said on Monday that if Vallabhbhai Patel had been the first Prime Minister of the country instead of Jawaharlal Nehru, there would have been no Pakistan or Article 370 today and India would have remained completely united.
Meena alleged that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was the result of decisions taken by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
He said that if Sardar Patel had been the Prime Minister, he would have ensured a united India.
Remembering BJP founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, he said that Mukherjee had resigned from the Nehru cabinet after opposing Article 370.
During his address at the launch of Jago Jago Ekta Padyatra in Ramganj Mandi assembly constituency on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, he said, “It was PM Modi who finally abolished Article 370, giving true freedom and democracy to Kashmir.”
He further said that BJP is a party that has come to power to serve the people and not for political gains.
“For us, nation comes first – above caste, party and everything else,” he claimed.
Meena also criticized Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and alleged that he also makes “irresponsible” statements about the Army.
He mentioned the unveiling of the statue of a soldier martyred in the 1962 war in Bhilwara and said that Congress has neglected such heroes.
Referring to national security, Meena said that if anyone dares to enter inside Pakistan and attack, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Claiming that no major terrorist attack took place under PM Modi’s 11-year leadership, he said the recent incident at the Red Fort has shocked the country, but PM Modi will bring the culprits to justice, even if they are hiding in the underworld.
He accused the Congress of stifling democracy during the Emergency under the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
“Those who suppressed the press and jailed politicians are now claiming that democracy is in danger,” he said.
He also alleged that the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were being misled by the false propaganda that Modi would abrogate the Constitution. “Jawaharlal Nehru was Ambedkar’s biggest rival,” he claimed. He said the BJP has worked under the principle of Antyodaya for the upliftment of the poor.
Remembering tribal hero Birsa Munda on his 150th birth anniversary, Dilawar said that Birsa Munda was a revolutionary who was feared by the British.
“Poisoning him at the age of 25 only proves his greatness,” the minister said.
