'Ideology is important, not position': Swami Prasad Maurya amid discussion on new party

Sources said the new organization will be called Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party.

Lucknow:

Former Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya is scheduled to launch his own political outfit, Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party, at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on February 22, sources said.

This happened after Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the post of National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party on 13 February. In his resignation letter to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Mr Maurya had said he would continue to work to strengthen the party even in his absence. Post.

Hitting out at Mr Yadav’s “benefits” comment, Mr Maurya on Monday said, “He is not in power in the state or at the Centre. He is not in a position to give anything. And whatever he has given me, I will return it.” Now. Ideology is important for me, not position. Rights and welfare of all sections is my priority, I will raise my voice whenever it is attacked.”

Asked about speculations about forming a new party, Swami Prasad Maurya said, “I have left everything to the party workers. Whatever they want will be acceptable to me.”

The rift between Akhilesh Yadav and Swami Prasad Maurya increased further when the Samajwadi Party chief said that he (Swami Prasad Maurya) has come to SP for benefits.

“Everyone comes to take benefit, but who stays on the spot? Who will tell what is in someone’s mind? Not only this, Akhilesh Yadav said that is there no such machine which can know what is going on in someone’s mind? Yes. Later everyone goes away and takes advantage.” Mr. Yadav has said.

Samajwadi Party national general secretary Swami Prasad Maurya quit the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of that year’s assembly elections and joined the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party in January 2022. He has been consistently making headlines for his provocative comments on sensitive issues including Ramcharitmanas, Sanatan Dharma and Hinduism.

Shri Maurya had courted controversy when he quoted the text of Ramcharitmanas and described it as derogatory for women, Dalits and tribals. His comments on Sanatan Dharma also created controversy.
