IAS officer Sarfaraz Ahmed appointed MD of Hyderabad Metro Rail

Hyderabad, September 17 (IANS) Government of Telangana has appointed IAS officer Sarfaraz Ahmed as Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited in place of NVS Reddy, who has been holding office since its inception.

Sarfaz Ahmed, who is currently the Metropolitan Commissioner, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), has been given full additional charge of MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited.

Sarafraj Ahmed, a 2009 related to IAS batch, has been given new responsibility at a time when the government is planning to start on the expansion of Hyderabad Metro.

NVS Reddy, a retired officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), has been appointed as the advisor to the state government for urban transport for a period of two years.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao issued separate orders for appointment as NVS Reddy’s advisor and transfer and posting of IAS officers.

The return from the study holiday has been posted as Director of Shruti Ojha, IAS (2013), women, children, disabled and senior citizens (WCD and SC) Department. She will replace Sreejana ji, IAS (2013), which was charging the post additional.

Krishna Aditya S, IAS (2014), director of the Intermediate Education, has been given full additional charge as the Secretary of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutes Society (TGSWRES), which gives relief from Setha Laxmi, IAS (2018).

Kota Srivats, IAS (2017), is posted as Joint Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA (General), and R. In place of Upendra Reddy, an additional fee has been paid as Secretary, HMDA.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revent Reddy held a review meeting on setting up a new power distribution company in addition to the current Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL) and Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL).

The Department of Energy has prepared a preliminary plan. The officials explained to the Chief Minister that the supply of drinking water within the agriculture, major and minor lift irrigation, rural drinking water supply, and GHMC limits would be brought under the jurisdiction of the new distribution company.

The Chief Minister suggested the reorganization of the current two discs into three separate disks. He issued important instructions about PPA allocation, staff division, asset distribution, pending arrears and other cases related to the proposed third discom.

The Chief Minister directed that the proposal should proceed only after receiving the cabinet approval, and instructed the authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan as soon as possible to ensure the early installation of the new discom.
