New Delhi, Nov 4 (IANS) The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is heading for a landslide victory and leaving the grand alliance (RJD-Congress-Left) far behind in the tightly contested Bihar assembly elections, an IANS-Matrix survey of opinion polls conducted between October 10 and November 3 has found.
According to the IANS-Matrix survey findings, the NDA is set to register a landslide victory in the state with 49 per cent vote share, while the Grand Alliance (Grand Alliance) is trailing at 38 per cent with a margin of over 11 per cent.
The stark difference in voting percentage between the NDA and the India Bloc is also evident in terms of numbers, as the NDA looks to take a big leap, securing 153-164 seats, while the grand alliance is projected to win 76-87 seats. If these projections translate into actual numbers, it would mean a two-thirds majority for the BJP-led NDA alliance.
According to the IANS-Matrix poll survey, BJP is expected to get 21 per cent vote share, while JD(U) is expected to get 18 per cent votes, which will translate into 83-87 seats and 61-65 seats respectively. Smaller alliance partners Hindustan Awam Morcha (2 percent), Lok Janshakti Party (6 percent), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (2 percent) are seen getting the vote share.
RJD seems to be emerging as the largest party in the grand alliance with 22 percent vote share i.e. 62-66 seats, while Congress is expected to win 8 percent mandate and 7-9 seats. The Left parties, including CPI (ML), CPI and CPI (M), can together get 7 per cent vote share and add 6-10 seats to the Grand Alliance’s kitty.
Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) does not seem to be making any impact, its vote share has dropped to just 1 percent.
New entrant in the fray Prashant Kishor led Jan Suraj is seen making a mark in the elections with 4 per cent vote share, but it is not as big as was publicized before the elections.
Owaisi-led AIMIM, which is going alone in the high-stakes electoral battle, is expected to get 1-2 seats with 1 per cent vote share.
The findings of an IANS-Matrix opinion poll ahead of the vote reflect the opinions of 73,387 people. The sample size included 38,109 men, 19,787 women and 15,390 youngest voters, and their opinions were taken from October 10 to November 3 last month. The margin of error in the survey findings is 3 percent.
Notably, the vigorous campaigning for the first phase of the battleground Bihar has ended today; This will bring to a close the high-level campaign for the 121 constituencies that will go to polls on November 6. The second phase of voting is to be held on November 11.
