Laid-back Candia Park Village, part of a small Greek hotel chain of four hotels, looks like the place family Will return again and again. The main reception, small shop and ice cream shop are designed to resemble a traditional Cretan village, with its terracotta bell tower and town square atmosphere.
Serve
Service is warm and friendly, but guests are more or less left to their own devices, so don’t expect sun lounger service. Restaurant servers will remember where you like to sit for breakfast and dinner, and kids club The staff is dedicated and enthusiastic.

All accommodation (suites and apartments) sleeps four, with some of the larger accommodation sleeping six. Each category has a kitchenette and can provide partially self-catering accommodation, as well as a smaller outside space or larger balcony. The older accommodation in the village area has a traditional Cretan feel, while the newer accommodation overlooking the sea is more modern in style, with minimalist interiors, exposed brick and earthy tones, monochrome linens, queen-size beds and open-plan living spaces with sofa beds and fully equipped outdoor terraces.

The room rate includes half-board, which includes buffet breakfast and dinner. Both buffets are comprehensive and traditional Greek and European cuisine There are also simple options for fussy kids such as pesto pasta, breakfast cereals and chips. There is usually a special dish such as black pepper sauce or cod stuffed with Greek vegetables and herbs. For an additional fee, you can dine at the à la carte restaurant To Fili Taverna, which serves excellent traditional Cretan cuisine and a carefully selected local wine list. Origin is important here, and with the exception of the extra virgin olive oil collected from the hotel group’s own olive grove in Anoskeli Rethimnon, suppliers are sourced locally and the products are seasonal.

A large swimming pool allows guests to escape the heat. The main pool also features a dedicated children’s pool and a shallower area large enough for a few laps. The on-site kids club accepts children aged four and above, no reservation required. It features an interior area and an outdoor playground. Children under four years old should be accompanied by their parents. Special classes such as morning yoga are also taught there. There is a small shop on site selling daily essentials including cereals, bread, milk, pasta and some cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as clothes and toys for the pool or beach. The ice cream parlor offers about 20 flavors of ice cream. There is a small gym and morning yoga classes are held on the grass under olive trees; no advance registration is required.

Accessibility
The Candia Park Hotel has 18 disabled rooms, which have been completely renovated with wider doors and remodeled bathrooms. With the exception of the beach, the entire hotel is wheelchair accessible and all disabled rooms are located on the ground floor for easy access. It’s worth noting, though, that there are traditional stone-paved walkways throughout the hotel. Disabled bathrooms are available in all public areas (except the pool bar area).
