The Department of Justice called a grand jury to investigate New York’s Attorney General Latitia James, with President Donald Trump’s increase in fighting with the top prosecutor of New York.
The investigation is being run out of Albani, New York, and focusing on the possible lack of allegations of rights, two well -laid sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News Digital.
The investigation is in an early stage, but Fox News Digital has learned that James’s office received a sub -ponus for documents this week, including information related to his civil fraud trial against Trump.
Separately, Attorney General Palm Bondi has authorized Ed Martin, a special prosecutor, to investigate allegations of hostage frauds associated with James and California Democratic Sen Adam Shif.
A grand jury in Virginia will examine the claims associated with James. A grand jury in Maryland will investigate claims related to Shif.
James, a Democrat, who was elected Attorney General in 2018, has been a target of Trump for a long time. James successfully made civil allegations against him for trade fraud in 2022 and played an important role in challenging the executive functions of his current administration in the court.
A spokesman for James suggested that the action of action by DOJ was “weapons” of its prosecution power.
The spokesman said, “Any weapon of the justice system should bother every American.” “We are standing firmly behind our successful litigation against Trump Organization and National Rifle Association, and we will stand for the rights of New York.”
