Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited IIT Jammu to attend the Valdictory session of Summer School 2025, where he appreciated the institution for his growing national reputation and local impact. He encouraged students to visit students to find out the beauty and culture of the Union region.
Speaking at the event, Abdullah said, “I feel frightened by finding myself in IIT Jammu – this is due to talent here. This is the first time I have visited any IIT, and I am happy that it is in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Along with the advisor of Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Abdullah praised the beautiful campus and compared it to the picturesque scenarios of Kashmir.
He said, “I was very keen to come here and I think it’s such a beautiful campus that it is beautiful as Kashmir.”
He addressed a general local concern that IITs could not directly benefit local youth due to the all-India competitive entry system.
“I was in the Ministry of Commerce in the Government of India in the Government of India. I know Saraf Saheb from that time. The people here believe that IIT will not benefit the local students, as it is an Indian competitive test.
