Hyderabad: In another major operation, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday removed encroachments on five acres of government land to reclaim property worth Rs 750 crore.
Hydra officials removed encroachment on land in Banjara Hills in the heart of the city and took possession of the property.
The land on Banjara Hills Road No. 10 in Shaikpet mandal was allegedly encroached upon by a person named Parthasatrathi, who had also deployed bouncers and dogs for its “protection”.
According to Hydra officials, the government had earlier allotted 1.20 acres of land out of the 5 acres to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
Parthasarathy approached the court claiming ownership of the entire 5 acres including 1.20 acres. Parthasarathy fenced the area and deployed bouncers with guard dogs for security.
While the case was pending in the court, Parthasarathy took possession of the entire 5 acres of land and constructed a shed.
Local people had complained to Hydra that Parthasarathy had set up a base on government land, was drinking alcohol and threatening them. They also hampered the efforts of the Jal Board to create water reservoirs to supply drinking water to many residential areas. Water board and revenue officials also lodged a complaint with Hydra.
According to Hydra, Parthasarathy tried to seize government land by using fake survey number (403/52). Revenue and Water Board officials registered 4 criminal cases against Parthasarathy at Banjara Hills police station.
It was confirmed that while the government land exists under survey number 403, Parthasarathy has encroached using sub-number 403/52. Hydra confirmed that Parthasarathy claimed 5 acres of government land using an unregistered sale deed.
Based on a letter from Shackpet revenue officials, the encroachment was removed amid heavy security arrangements. Hydra removed the fence put up by Parthasarathy along with the shed inside. Hydra fenced around 5 acres and put up boards identifying it as government land.
Hydra Commissioner AV Ranganath had last month announced that it had reclaimed 923 acres of government land worth Rs 50,000 crore during the last one year.
The agency reclaimed 923.14 acres of government land, lakes, parks, drains and roads.
Since its formation on July 19 last year, Hydra conducted 96 operations to remove around 581 encroachments.
The reclaimed land includes 424 acres of government land, 233 acres of lakes and 218 acres of roads. The agency also removed encroachment from 15 acres of drains and 25 acres of parks.
The Commissioner said that Hydra has so far received around 5000 complaints regarding encroachment of lakes, parks, roads, drains, government land and illegal layouts.
