Hydra reinforces land worth Rs 50,000 crore in a year

Hyderabad, 22 September (IANS) Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Conservation Agency (Hydraa) rectified 923 acres of Rs 50,000 crore government land during the last one year.

Hydra Commissioner AV Ranganath said on Monday that the agency retrieved 923.14 acres of government land, lakes, parks, nalas and roads.

He told a press conference that since its formation on July 19 last year, Hydra made 96 drives to remove about 581 encroachments.

The re -landed land includes 424 acres of government land, 233 acres of lakes and 218 acres of roads. The agency also removed the encroachment on 15 acres of sewer and 25 acres of parks.

The commissioner said that Hydra has so far received around 5,000 complaints about encroachment of lakes, parks, roads, nalas, government land and illegal layouts. He said that about 75 percent of the complaints were redressed with focus on settlements and resolving waterfall issues.

The Telangana government formed Hydra as a dedicated agency for prevention and mitigation of disasters and also for the protection of government land (TCUR) within public property, parks, nalas, open places and Telangana Corps Urban Area (TCUR), which is covered with 2,055 square kilometers in 150 wards of Greater Hydebad Corporation (GHMC).

Ranganath said that Hydra gave Rs. Six lakes are restored and rejuvenated at a cost of 5.40 crores. These include the Bathukamma Lake in Amberpet, which was on 26 September Chief Minister A. Ready to open by Revanath Reddy.

He revealed that due to the rejuvenation of six lakes, their area has increased from 105 acres to 180 acres, thus recurring about 75 acres of encroachment land.

The Commissioner said that the installation of 1000 CCTV cameras in 180 lakes under GHMC jurisdiction is in progress with an estimated cost of Rs 8.60 crore.

Hydra has identified 14 more lakes for rejuvenation and sent proposals to the government.

The agency plans to finalize a drone-based FTL for lakes. This will monitor and find out the annual change. Land of tank, nostrils and government property will also be taken.

The proposals include alert for real-time dashboard and inter-departal coordination.

Hydraa has 51 Disaster Response Forces (DRF) team with 825 personnel to address an emergency. The commissioner said that this year the number of teams will be 72.
